The rules, in thirty seconds
Ottomino is a block puzzle on an 8×8 grid — the name comes from otto, Italian for eight: eight columns, eight rows. You get three pieces at a time and drag them onto the board; pieces never rotate, so where you put them is the whole game. Whenever a row or a column is completely filled it clears and frees up space: clearing more than one line at once, or clearing on consecutive moves, builds a combo multiplier. The run ends when none of the three pieces in hand fits anywhere.
There is no timer and nothing to react to: it is spatial planning, and the only thing chasing you is the space running out. In the daily challenge the whole world gets the same pieces in the same order; everyone has one run plus up to two more chances (each for a short video), and the best score of the day counts, with the attempt it came from shown next to it — that is what makes the scores comparable: at the end you see your percentile, your rank (from Wood to Grandmaster) and your place among the people who played near you.

How it works
Drag
Three pieces at a time, no rotation: placement is everything.
Clear
Full rows and columns vanish. Smart fits earn combos and multipliers.
Rule
One score and the board for your town — then province, region and country.
Three ways to play
Daily challenge
One board, identical for everyone. Best of three: one run, and up to two more chances for a short video each. The day closes at midnight, and tomorrow's board is already waiting.
Training
Whenever you like, no limits: the run ends only when nothing fits any more. Here the opponent is your own record.
Arenas
Create an arena, give it a #hashtag, choose how long each session lasts and invite with a code, a link or a QR. Everyone plays the same board, the winner takes the session, and the app says when everyone is waiting on you.
AI players that really play
In Ottomino the synthetic opponents are not numbers drawn from a curve. They are two thousand agents with a name and a level from 1 to 10, and every day they play the challenge's pieces just like you: a real game, move by move, on the game engine.
A real game
An agent's score comes from a game actually played, with its move log. The next day you can watch it from the first piece to the last, like anyone else's.
Watch them play live
In arenas the agents start as soon as the session opens and play at a human pace: once your own match is done, you follow theirs move by move, as it happens.
Pick the level
From level 1, a beginner, to 10, very strong but not unbeatable. In arenas you invite them by name or by level: the challenge is always your size, even when someone is missing.
Always labelled
Wherever they appear — leaderboards, arenas, replays — they carry the AI badge and their level next to the name. They never pass for people.
That is what makes Ottomino different: a leaderboard that is never empty, and never fake.
A look at the app
Why Ottomino
One challenge, the whole world
The same pieces for everyone, once a day. One run, then up to two more chances — your best score of the day counts.
Real rivals, close to home
Town, province, region and country leaderboards, with places from all over the world. A local board opens once fifty players have been active there in a week; until then you compete in the wider one, and the app tells you how many are missing. At midnight a notification tells you where you finished and how many played.
Streaks and ranks
Play daily, grow your streak and climb from Wood to Grandmaster.
Share, spoiler-free
A sleek result to drop in the chat. Your friends will have to earn theirs.
Watch the game again
Every game replays move by move, from the first piece to the last: you see exactly where you closed the space.
Three looks and a soundtrack
Paper & Ink, Futuristic or Fluo, in light or dark. The daily challenge opens with Ottomino's theme song, and during a match you switch track or turn the music off with one tap.
No account, no email
Open it and play. Your nickname is generated, your town is optional, and your data can be wiped from the app with one tap. And from the settings you can write to us.
In your pocket and on a tablet
iPhone, Android, iPad and tablets: on a big screen the board grows, and in landscape the pieces move to the side.
Frequently asked questions
What is Ottomino?
A free block-puzzle game for iPhone, Android and tablets. Every day the whole world gets the same 8×8 board and the same pieces; you get one run and up to two more chances, and your best score of the day counts.
How do you play?
You drag three pieces at a time onto an 8×8 grid. Pieces cannot be rotated. Complete rows and columns clear; the run ends when nothing fits any more.
Is it about logic or speed?
Logic and space, not speed: there is no timer and no reflex element. Thinking costs you nothing — the pressure is the board filling up.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. Create an arena, give it a #hashtag and invite people with a code, a link or a QR; you can also make it public, so anyone can find it and join. Everyone plays the same board in timed sessions, 1 to 24 hours: the app ranks the arena, tells you when the others are only waiting on you and announces the winner. Results are shared as an image or a text line, spoiler-free.
Do I need an account?
No. No account, no email, no login: the app generates a nickname you can change, the town is optional, and you can erase your data from inside the app in one tap.
Is it free? Are there ads?
It is free. There is one full-screen ad at the end of a run, never during play, and a short video you can choose to watch for another chance at the daily challenge. Players under 16 only ever see non-personalised, general-audience ads, and are never shown a consent form.
How long does a game take?
Three to five minutes. The daily challenge is once a day; training is unlimited.
How is it different from other block puzzles?
Three things: the same board for everyone once a day, so scores can really be compared; a leaderboard that starts from your own town instead of a worldwide list of strangers; and a move-by-move replay of every game.
